I have gotten a lot of suggestions from people over the last several months of organizing happy hour events on where to have future Twin Cities Thursday Happy Hours networking events, so I decided to put the decision in the hands of the voters. I took some of your nominations and created a poll for you to vote for where you would like to see us have a future TCTHH event. I will take the top vote earning location and try my hardest to organize an event at that location, with a little luck and utilization of my connections, I will make it happen.
If you have a place that is not on the list you would like to write in as a vote, please leave it in the comments section. The winning vote getter will get to have the happy hour in November, December or January.
Also, don’t forget to join us on October 22nd for our next event at the J.J. Hill Library in St. Paul, stay tuned for more details later this week.

I got to thinking about what makes a good networking event; is it the people that attend, is it the structure of the event or is it the environment that you are in?
Aside from the people that come, I think the type of environment that is created for people to be comfortable at an event is the most important thing. At Twin Cities Thursday Happy Hours events, we tend to have most of our gatherings at a bar/restaurant during happy hour times. The environment that we have at our events allows for people to get to know each other on a casual level and in the long run, build relationships with other professionals in Minneapolis/Saint Paul that will be great business connections to build upon.
Different people are comfortable in different environments for networking, which leads them to pick and choose what type of events they would or would not attend.
What do you think is the best environment for networking with other Twin Cities business professionals?

There are many events and festivals that take place throughout the Twin Cities and greater Minnesota throughout the year, but surely you cannot make it to all of them, as much fun as that would be. That means you have to pick one of the many great gatherings us Minnesotans get to enjoy in the summer.

What would be your favorite Twin Cities sporting event to attend with a group of Minneapolis/St. Paul Professionals where you could include networking as part of the event?
I personally would vote for the 2009 PGA Championship at Hazeltine. Who wouldn’t want to see Tiger Woods win yet another major, while also meeting great people to add to your business network?

I know it’s been a while since I’ve posted a poll, which has not been on a weekly basis. Getting things back on track, here is the Twin Cities Thursday Happy Hours poll question of the week.

In an attempt to get some good ideas about happy hours in Minneapolis and St. Paul, I would like to start a new feature here at Twin Cities Thursday Happy Hours, our weekly poll. Polls will often be related to the happy hour group, but may also be related to Minnesota, the Twin Cities, business professionals or other random topics.
